ibarfly jones’ Man on the Moon (Definitive Review)

First, let me thank you first reading my opinion on Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon. I have to tell you dude after hearing Day & Night and Poker Face impressed me. I thought this dude was nice and different. What I did not know is that he had plans to show how different he was going to be. Ohio had done it again. The gave us the unorthodox style of Bones Thugs. Now they bless us with a creative force called Kid Cudi. I have to say, I really like this kid. He has been getting some much praise from me. Oh, well let us get to why you came here today.
IN MY DREAMS, is a nice introduction to Cudi and his plans for this album. I felt the mellow vibe the intro gave the listener. It just felt good and I could not help to hear more of it. Overall, it was a REPLAY. I really was digging the track.
SOUNDTRACK 2 MY LIFE, wow this was just butter. I think he really came correct with a very introspective track. I think Kanye really made it cool for cats to explore part of themselves in a song. This is very nice. When I listened to the track, I was amazed how easy he came of with the perfect vibe.
[Chorus]
I’ve got some issues that nobody can see
and all of these emotions are pourin’ outta me
I bring them to the light for you
it’s only right
this is the soundtrack to my life
the soundtrack to my life ohhhh
[Verse 2]
I super paranoid like a sixth sense,
since my father died I ain’t been right since,
and I tried to piece the puzzle of the universe,
split an eighth of shrooms just so I can see the universe,
I try to think about myself as a sacrifice,
just to show the kids they ain’t the only ones up tonite,
the moon will illuminate my room and soon i’m consumed by my doom,
Once upon a time nobody gave a f-ck,
it’s all said and done and my cocks been sucked,
so now im in the cut, alcohol in the womb,
my hearts an open sword and hope it heals soon,
I live in a cocoon opposite of Cancun,
where it is never sunny the dark side of the moon,
so its moving right, i try to shed some light on the man,
not many people of this planet understand.
I love this track and I had to give it a REPLAY.
SIMPLE AS, was the perfect title for how I was viewing the album. Cudi was being extremely dope and it was as simple as that.
I can’t be a loser could’ve figured that
I can’t be a lame I’m cooler than that
I feel I love the fame then I hate it back
thinking, now what I should be twitterin?
Why’d big bro take all the hot bitches?
Dear god, me too, I like the hot bitches
I’ll be the underdog all along till I’m gone
I will live through this song
I’ll be strong through the haters
The cool thing is you know he knows how people going to view him, but he goes forward. I love the beat cause it is simple. I think he capture a perfect vibe of the song and delivered with a huge degree of excellence. I have on word, REPLAY.
SOLO DOLO, he just can’t seem to mess up with me. I listen to this track and he kills this to me. I like how he comes of like a very hip spoken word artist on this track. And the cool thing is the beat is slick, sparse, and ill. It is a haunting track and he captures the feeling of being paranoid on drugs by yourself. This album captures and is the musically version of a night high as hell. I hate to say it is a beautiful thing, but so far this album is. REPLAY this track over and over. I can understand how people won’t enjoy this track. But it is what hip hop is all about. This dude Kid Cudi has made a possible classic album. I think it could be view as a classic in the future. I am positive that for weed heads this album is this ish. I don’t think I am off base with that assessment. This album is like listening to Half Baked.
HEART OF A LION, let me just get into it. Replay….
Please save a cudi that needs some help and i can’t begin to
think of anything that could help but the weed is guaranteed indeed jus
what i need how i feel upon a time so recent in time make me sad when
i recollect how it use to be like david and goliath kinda like me and the
devil tryna rip out my soul tryna catch a nigga on sleep no no u can try
again and ill be ready wont let you kill me in my dream like freddy
krueger nooo im not no loser wont see you in hell
at the end of the day my momma told me dont let no one break me let no one break me
at end of the day, day, nobody, nobody, ever could stop me ever could stop me
at the end of the day, day you cant regret it if you were trying if you were trying
at the end of the day i’m walking with a heart of a lion yea
I really don’t understand how you can feel the dude. Even if you don’t like the music. He just comes so real and correct. He is a breathe of fresh air in the game.
MY WORLD, I am enjoying this track. It is nice to hear dude spit a little bit. I really got into the song once the second verse dropped.
Big homie made the move made, made the move
Flew off the moon
No one to hang out with talk that shit to, just my Brooklyn niggas
All I would wonder is when will my time come
Had mad jobs and I lost them all of them
Thinkin’ bout my bosses yup, I hated all of them
Studio at night had me hustlin’ most of them
Nigga I was late damn near every day
But Imma be on time when the stars align
When my soul was happy on my ramen diet
Followed by a loosie was the meal of grinders
If you knowin’ the truth all you think about is that thing
Always be a hater tryna shoot down any dream
Until you meet a kid like k dot
Niggas thought I was crazy my momma know I stay hot
We getting’ money. mom
I just love how he explores himself. It is cool to learn about the artist in his music. Dopeness, REPLAY.
DAY & NIGHT, classic Cudi. This is a signature song for dude.
Cuz day and night
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night
He’s all alone through the day and night
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night (at, at, at night)
Day and night
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night
He’s all alone, some things will never change (never change)
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night (at, at, at night)
Just a chill, exciting track. When you listen to the world at how the track is produced you get a chill cause it is just dope. REPLAY!
I will post the rest tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed it so far. I am feeling this epic album. 2009 has turned into an incredible year for hip hop for me. Man on the Moon and Blueprint 3 are some generation defining records. It will sink into the psyche of fans soon enough. Until tomorrow.
I am back and I again took time out to listen to the album. Funny how people can hate something just cause it is so different. I felt this way about Bones. They have never been my cup of tea. I never liked them but I understood their appeal. I never thought they made bad music. My likes or dislikes are based on taste, not about what it good or bad. At least that is how I like to approach music and my reviews.
SKY MIGHT FALL, is Cudi doing his thing. I like this song for the message. As gloomy as things can be you can let them get you down. I like this verse.
Grey clouds took together fam,
Lining piercing to another land
Over the desert wit’ the lost play,
Soul searching each in every way,
An then you see tha,
Awesome sounds so profound within,
It’ll grip you…you can see it,
If you hear you can feel it too,
Somethin’ special I am runnin’ to,
‘Til then I go,
REPLAY.
ENTER GALACTIC, I’m not felling the song. It does fit, but it is a little to upbeat musically for me. Here is my first SKIP. Peep it and make up your own mind. It remind me of goodie mob and outkast “trans df express” track. Maybe I am way off but that song is what I think of when I hear this track.
ALIVE, now we are back on track. We got a sinister sounded hook and tempo. I feel the tempo and flow so much. It is a welcomed switch up from the previous track.
I’m a beast in the night
I’m on the prowl and I’m hoping to find some light
you call it heaven, I can do it for the same
Ain’t nothing wrong I bin feasting on something brave
a sexy lady who’s pure, she has the cure, uh
I hope she can find a man within the beast, and
I hope she saves me from the curse I have to beat, hey
I hope she figures out a way to save my soul
yeah, to save my heart, hey
The werewolf reference is obvious and I connected to the beast comments being a fan of the mythos of the creature. Great song, REPLAY
CUDI ZONE
Soaring,
Is this allowed?
I sure bet my daddy proud,
A little nigga wit a shaky smile,
On top of the dreams is where I’m found.
Some figured I was Satan-bound,
Until I came back with the style I found
Speaking from the heart. He is not talking about flipping birds, riding maybachs, and gang banging. Naw, he is speaking to us like we are friends. I love this kind of song. Dope, REPLAY.
MAKE HER SAY, this song got me back into buying music again. Perfect track, no flaws, a certified song that I will never skip. Everyone came correct. I love this song. It actually made me want to hear the original. REPLAY.
PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, I love the opening of the track.
VERSE 1:
Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up, take a hit
Feelin’ lit feelin’ light, 2 am summer night.
I don’t care, hand on the wheel, drivin drunk, I’m doin’ my thing
Rollin the Midwest side and out livin’ my life getting’ out dreams
People told me slow my roll I’m screaming out fuck that
Imma do just what I want lookin’ ahead no turnin’ back
if I fall if I die know I lived it to the fullest
if I fall if I die know I lived and missed some bullets
REPLAY.
HYYERR, is cool. I felt like the beat was something Kanye would spit on. Cudi still did a great job on a nice track. I just like how real he is emotionally and verbally on this track.
I mean free my mind
One puff at a time
Im up all the time
Im up on the grind
So a big booty and a blunt would be fine
Just wanna feel fine
Just wanna kill time
Just wanna relax and think of a rhyme
REPLAY
UP UP & AWAY, It is not that I don’t like the song. Cause I do. But not cause it knocks, but because it is different way of saying FU to the haters. He is out and doing his own thing. For that simple fact, this song gets a REPLAY.
ill be up up and away
up up and away
cause
they gon judge
me anyway
so whatever
ill be up up and away
up up and away
cause in the end theyll judge me anyway
so
whatever
It is like this my friends. Cudi is a very talented dude that I think appeals to more people than gun packing 20 to 45 year old dudes that rap about a life they don’t lead anymore. This album is in the present. He does reflect, but he spends lots of time with the listeners here. The first listen of this album I was confused. However, I realized I was just hearing something old but new. Cudi flipped Kanye’s openness and changed it to fit with his own worldview. I really like this album. This is hip-hop. However, more importantly it is good music.
